• find fault with = criticise something

Leo wanted to find out the answer to a difficult question. First he tried to find out about the topic online. But after reading many pages he suddenly found himself confused. He decided to ask his teacher. Soon he found his way to the correct answer. The teacher smiled but also found fault with Leo's spelling.
