In this lesson, we learn four useful expressions for school life:

to look for, to hurry up, to work on, and to put away.

To look for means to try to find something.

To hurry up means to do something faster.

To work on means to spend time and effort on a task, exercise, or project.

To put away means to put something back in the correct place after using it.

These expressions are common in the classroom and at home.

They help students talk about real actions in simple daily situations.

They are also easy to use in commands, short stories, and classroom dialogues.

On Monday morning, Mia is ready for school at seven thirty. Ben is not ready. He stands near the table and looks for his maths notebook. His mum says, “Ben, hurry up. The bus comes soon.” Ben says, “I want to hurry up, but first I need to find my notebook.” His mum looks at the table, the chair, and the sofa. Then she looks at Ben’s hand. The notebook is in his hand. “Ben,” she says, “what is that?” Ben looks at his hand and smiles. “Good news,” he says. “My search is over.” At school, the teacher says, “Children, work on page ten.” Ben works on page ten, page eleven, and half of page twelve because he opens the wrong book. After the lesson, the teacher says, “Please put away your books.” Mia puts away her things in ten seconds. Ben puts away one pencil, two papers, an apple, and a toy dinosaur. The teacher looks at the dinosaur and says, “Does it study too?” Ben says, “No. But it works on my homework with me.”
