על מנת לשאול האם יש אדם, חיה או חפץ במקום ספציפי אליו אנחנו מתייחסים, נעביר את is לראש המשפט כדי לבנות שאלה. ייצא:

למשל:

Is there a boy in the playground?
Is there a girl at the window? 

Is there a bird on the fence?
Is there a cat under the chair?

Is there a book on the table?
Is there a pencil near the book?

איך לענות על שאלות עם

פשוט ענו Yes או No, ואחריו נחזיר את there is/are. אם התשובה שלילית, לא נשכח לשים not אחרי is/are:

Is there a boy in the playground?   Yes, there is. / No, there is not.

Is there a girl at the window?            Yes, there is.  / No, there is not.
